“The Narrow Road to the Deep North - Botanical Travels in Japan”

Most visitors to Japan visit the amazing Japanese gardens and temples. We did not visit any gardens. This was a very different trip, entirely to see plants growing in the wild. A trip to Japan through mountains, bogs and deep snow to see Japanese native plants growing in the wild. It was particularly interesting to see many plants familiar to UK gardeners growing in their natural habitat and also exciting to see some of the rarer woodland plants that can be grown in the UK
