Our history and roots

The Tettenhall and District Horticultural Society has been in existence, in one form or another, since 1915, to promote an interest in flowers, gardening and all things horticultural.

This Society formally reconstituted itself as the Tettenhall Gardening Club in 2022 with a much broader remit: to share knowledge of gardens and gardening with a much wider audience through talks, workshops and educational demonstrations to attract young gardeners. Secondly, to offer horticultural help and advice.

The Society’s Annual Show, which has been held for more than 100 years, is currently staged at the  United Reformed Church in Tettenhall Wood. Described by the Express and Star as ‘one of the few thriving village horticultural shows in the West Midlands,’ it is one of the highlights of the horticultural year.

We are proud of our rich heritage, and to be one of a new breed of modernised gardening clubs.
